It”s time to share some new crochet patterns around here. I’ve been crocheting for 8 years (and I LOVE it) and I want to share my ideas and designs with you all – especially with the advent of Fall and the Winter holidays. It feels like it’s just going by way too fast this year. This year, I felt the inspiration to design some apple patterns. I’m gonna share a free pattern for the mini apple today.
These are perfect little projects for keychains, desk decor, small and easy gifts for friends and family. You can even make a little army of them to decorate a wreath. As you know, apples don’t only come in just green. Regardless, you can really have fun with colors for these little guys. Heck, make purple apples if you really want to!
And if you’re new to amigurumi, this is also really great project to get your feet wet. This simple crochet pattern teaches you essential amigurumi shaping basics. The steady increases and decreases are called for in almost every easy amigurumi pattern as well as the hard ones.
By the way, I just opened my shop (come check it out!!). I sell my patterns and finished crochet goods as well as other handmade products. I actually have a new collection release which I’m really excited about: THE APPLES COLLECTION. I do limited stock only so check it out while supplies last! Who knows, you may find your next favorite piece! And more products will be added over the coming weeks!
Without further ado, let’s make some mini crochet apples!

Rnd 15: (Dec)x6 (6)
Rnd 16: Sc 6 (6). Sl st.
Leave a long tail for sewing and tie off.
Assembly
You’re going to need your tapestry needle.
TIP: Twist the yarn at the tip in the same direction as the ply to make it easier to thread the needle
Carefully thread through the back loop of each of the 6 stitches
Once you have threaded each stitch, pull it taught to close the hole. It’s really fun!
Now it’s time to make the indented shape of the top and bottom of the apple. To do this, start by threading your needle through the middle of the top. Then push your need through the middle of the bottom.
Do this a couple of times. Don’t forget to shape your apple to make sure it’s just the way you like it!
To secure your yarn, you can now “undimple” the top by using your thumb to push the bottom up. This way, you can more easily tie off your work.
Stem (brown yarn)
Insert your hook into the middle of the apple as shown. Make a slip knot and pull it through. It may take some time to shimmy your hook through, but you can do it!
Then, yarn over and make a chain
Then, chain 4 more
Cut, tie off, and hide your tail end.
TIP: If your tail is too short to thread, you can actually “pre-place” your tapestry needle to make it shorter, THEN thread it.
